Bought a 335d

Hello all,

Been lurking the boards for a while now and finally got my hands on a 2011 bmw 335d sport. A buddy told me about the 335d about a month ago which I didn't know bmw had a diesel here in the states. Once I looked it up I was excited to test drive one and see what it was all about. After that I was in love lol. But let's get back to the actual car I got.

Like I said 2011 with 39,300mi sport, cold, and premium package. Doesn't have the paddle shifters. Car seems solid so far. It was on Texas and I drove out from Florida to trade my Honda civic si in for the purchase. Got it for $23,000 plus 3yr/up to 75k warranty bumper to bumper (through Nissan dealer where I bought it). The drive back was awesome. Love the power and smooth ride, other than the RFs. Of course flooring it on and off the whole trip to get to the off ramp at home and have the SES come on after a spirited pass. No issues with idle nor power. Ordered a Bluetooth obd reader and downloaded the app torque. Buddy tomorrow will lend me his reader to see what it is for now. Completely happy with my buy and hope to enjoy the car with some mods!

Won't let me upload pictures right now so they will come later.

"After a spirited pass" I wonder if your throttle went out. I only say that because I had mine replaced under CPO in a similar circumstance.

Also I could be wrong but if you are only at 39,300 and it's a 2011 you should still be under factory warranty. Good luck figuring out what the code means, I have read a few and once i get to the dealer it is always something that is only quasi related. Not sure if that is the dealer or torque misleading me though. Oh and welcome

Thanks everyone. Loving the car so far. Haven't been able to get the code read due to schedule. Going by a shop tomorrow and having it get looked over for anything since it is still in warranty.

I'll let you know what it says.

The code was P0101. Says MAF connection problem. There is a record of the Maf having been replaced already though. I'm going in to an indy shop Friday for a thorough check up.

Do yourself a huge favor and yank the DDE and send it to Jarek before you and your Nissan dealer spend a bunch of time circle jerking in your alphabet soup. The sooner you do it the happier you will be.

I've had this once. I've had to disconnect MAF several times doing oil catch can plumbing work as well as other things in that area. When i reconnect the MAF, I don't get a distinct "click" noise. I open the hood about once a week and push down on the connector to make sure its still in good.

Welcome to the club :>)

Will check the connection again to see if it's tight. I'm still in warranty so not sure how drastic I want to get just yet. I'd like to do the egr block and jbd. But I'm not opposed to going full stage II since I am in Florida so no emissions inspection.

When I drove my 2011 D off the lot with CPO coverage I threw a code for the MAF. Replaced the next day.

I think it is around $1200. It's really worth it to increase the reliability of the car. The pipes you can do yourself for free.
Plus it will be much faster.

Hey Guys, Just a little info on the M57's MAF sensor. If your getting faults, do not fear, the MAF does not control any of the fueling on the engine. Its there for the EGR, and if you block or delete the EGR, you can have the MAF coded out and remove it so you can run a larger intake inlet or some type of cold air setup.

Took it into a indy today for a once over. Looks like I have the red hose leak, a few codes which the guy said could be from that or from the MAF issue, and two bent wheels that aren't horrible but probably never balance perfectly. Went to dealer and my warranty is good until January 10th, 2016 so set up an appointment for next week for them to look at everything. We'll see what comes of this.

The indy shop though mentioned they had another 335D owner looking at down pipe fabrication and exhaust. They are a great shop from the car guys I know in town so will consider them for the fab but they said they won't tune so I'll be looking elsewhere for that.

Nice! IMHO, the 335d in Sapphire Black Metallic is a lovely color, especially when clean and basking in the sunlight! Enjoy!
