OT: USB Record Deck

As a follow on from the Sonos thread.

I am looking at getting a decent USB type record deck.

This will be for converting a rather large amount of Vinyl to MP3 type format (actual format tbd).

My darling wife used to work at Bruce Millers in Aberdeen (records department) so we have tons of vinyl (mainly 80's and my rock stuff).

So anyone have experience of decent deck for copying across?

I can do it via my PC but it's a pain lol.

I've got a Sony one. Possibly not the greatest in terms of HiFi but works well enough when converting to MP3.

Ah. Bruces.
Spent many an hour in his shops in the 70s

Used to be a vinyl junkie many moons ago. Still got loads but never played anything on the turntable for years.

As for converting to digital, sorry i can't help you there mate.

I have found that i have doubled up some of my vinyl on CD.
Still have a few rarities on vinyl though.

Okay £50 to £250 quid then.

Above that will just pay some fucker to copy them.

Edit: fuck it, just posting depends on your budget is a shit answer, there is no such thing on here as a budget, name a price and watch it get topped lol.

If you're looking for something a little more than the cheap and cheerful, you could have a look at the Pro-Ject line....

Looks quite good, nice if it had optical out and USB.

I can use my Soundblaster xifi pro, it's just a pain.

Having a deck to take some of the load would be easier

The real time saver will be decent software that'll rip, remove crackle etc, automatically split tracks based on silence, and ideally label the tracks from audio fingerprinting (although that last one might not be possible)

I need to do my wife's extensive cassette collection at some point. I don't mind switching tapes, it's the manually splitting and naming tacks that'll drive me crazy. I'll happily pay if there is good software to do that.
