2016 BMW 7 Series makes North American debut at 2015 LA Auto Show

COMMENTS

The all-new BMW 7 Series is the brand’s flagship in its sixth generation and once again sets the standard for modern luxury and performance, delivering the highest level of driving refinement in the premium segment. The 2016 BMW 7 Series makes its North American debut in Los Angeles, setting a new benchmark in lightweight design, driving dynamics, comfort, intelligent connectivity and intuitive operation. The BMW EfficientLightweight concept allows the new BMW 7 Series line-up a 190 pounds weight reduction in comparison to its predecessor. Groundbreaking Carbon Core passenger cell technology is the key element on the body structure by the extensive use of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) and the strategic application of lightweight design to reduce weight and increase both the overall torsion strength and bending stiffness. Featuring BMWs newest and pioneering technologies such as Gesture Control, Wireless Charging and Display Key. An Active Kidney Grille will also be available for the first time in the US. The MSRP for the BMW 740i is $82,295, the $95,395 for the 750i Sedan and $98,395 for the BMW 750i xDrive all including $995 Destination & Handling.

Here is the 7 Series M Sport on display:

All these M Performance accessories but no devout M model? Damn.

The V12 just seems a bit outdated, I wish the best engine would be a twin turbo V8 S63 or even a new V10 (yeah, Im dreaming...)

I would slightly disagree. V12 engines are awesome.

As the saying goes, there is no replacement for displacement........and cylinder count

I don't think there's much dispute that the New 7 is in every way (and in every trim) superior to the F01

Not enough. To say "carbon core" in this car is to say the least false publicity. A couple of pilars panels and other bits and bobs hardly qualify as "core".

Mechanically sure, but aesthetically I could go back/forth with you all day.

The Carbon Core incorporates the pillars, roof structure and certain points of the chassis which is known as weight load bearing areas. In other words the heaviest points of a car body structure.

Superior to S Class, but we have to see what Audi brings with the next A8. VAG Group is powerful these days even with the diesel emissions scandal!

Its unlucky for you that the internet exists...as I said: bits and bobs. As the images show they are just small pieces "covering" the metal frame. And for 100kg savings I would say more a marketing feature than a leap in engineering. Please dont insult our intelligence with ur marketing bs.

What a coincidence! I just saw one on the road for the first time today.

I really liked the way it looked. The headlights and front fascia definitely give it a sportier look than previous 7ers.

Really don't see how any finds this car attractive. Worst looking 7 ever made.

It needs a nose job.
