X-Line vs M

X-line vs M

I think M looks better (i would paint the black part of the rear bumper in same colour as the car. (more like M bodykit from X5)
What do you think?

Pictures taken from car configurator www.bmw.nl

I ordered a X1 2.5d with X-line but the M pack recently released.
I have one more week to decide wether i want to change my order to M instead of X-line...

Best Regards
Math.

Both are good looking cars. But I feel that the contrast in bumper colours in xLine/Sport/SE compared to body-coloured M Sport makes the car look more rugged and tough. M Sport body panels make it look more streamlined and feminine IMO.

I saw the M Sport at the IAA. Because of the smaller overall size of the car compared to X3 and X5, it looked more like a fat hatchback rather than a small SUV. Still a good looking fat hatchback. But definitely not a sporty looking SUV like X5 M.

xLine doesn't feel like that at all. Black and silver exterior trim camouflage the small size. It all comes down to personal preference in the end. I wanted a small SUV. xLine looks exactly that.

The issue is that US Spec doesn't get the sport seats or paddle shifters without going M-sport, so we want those two items, we are forced into one trim.

And you can't have the matt black wood trim in the M-Sport version.

The x-line with 19s looks pretty good. Both are great.

I was in a similar situation. I have an M Sport on order for ED in December. It was originally X Line, but I changed my order after thinking it over a while.

Overall I think the M Sport looks better. I like the more aggressive look. The X Line has black cladding all around the lower body, which looks like a cost-saving measure to me.

The fat M Sport steering wheel is significantly nicer than the X Line wheel, at least in pictures.

Also, the M Sport should have a slightly lower stance, about 1"/2.5cm, IIRC, and the M Sport upgrade wheels are much nicer than the slightly flowery-looking X Line upgrade wheels (which would be more at home on a VW New Beetle, IMHO).

BTW, I've also thought about painting the black area of the rear bumper to match the rest of the body, but the Estoril Blue paint I ordered may be hard to precisely color-match.

I originally was going to get the M Sport but when I saw the rear I told myself heck no! I don't know why they couldn't make the M Sport have a nice rear diffuser style bumper. It just looks ridiculous. I like the rugged look of the X Line with the 19's; just perfect to me. The front and sides of the M Sport definitely looks awesome but the back just kills it for me. Once I start thinking of painting the rear bumper just to match the car better I definitely knew I made the right choice. If I don't like how it looks from the factory then it ain't for me. I'll be kinda sick if they actually do change the rear bumper of the M Sport in a few years but I'll still be happy with my X Line. You can't go wrong with either. GL.

Don't get me started on how frustrating the trim options are for the M-SPort in the US. The order guide shows 3 trim options for M-Sport in the US, but they actually only offer two. The aluminum with blue highlight, or the fineline wood trim. They were supposed to offer another aluminum trim option with black/pearl gloss highlight, but that was dropped, so if you want aluminum you have to have what is a pretty ugly blue trim (unless you have Estoril Blue exterior), or the wood trim.

I agree with others that the M-Sport looks best with darker colors given the rear bumper treatment.

Originally wanted the M Sport because of the extras
But I feel the Xline is a bit cooler looking.
I love the idea of MSport gear but Xline just plain sexy .
I'll be going Xline and optioning the dynamic damper control and sport seats

I also have a F20 M Sport. I really liked the look of the M Sport over the standard models.
When considering the F48 X1, I have opted for the X Line as I thought the M Sport package didn't provide a sporty look and appears soft in style.
The M Sport version should have been more aggressive and have 20" wheels.
I think the X Line with the 19" Y wheels is good looking machine.
I am looking forward to getting my F48 in January.
