Maryland dealers charging MSRP + destination?
Anyone else have this experience? I was talking to a dealer in Maryland, and when we started out the salesperson quoted me MSRP (minus 5%) + TTT + dealer processing + DESTINATION! BMW includes the $995 destination fee in the MSRP. It seems to me the dealership tries to charge destination twice. The salesperson said this was the norm in the area. I never bothered looking around to see if that was true because they hit my price, and I don't care how they break down the cost as long as I'm not paying more then I wanted to. But it just seemed weird.

I just bought a 2016 M235xi from a Maryland (east of DC) dealer and they wanted me to pay MSRP plus all the other fees for a factory ordered car "because the M235i is a highly sought after car." Then I pulled out my USAA pricing that was a little over 7% under MSRP and they said that was only for cars in stock. I then mentioned that a dealer in Virginia would factory order my car for that price. He talked to his manager and came back saying "we don't want you to have to go to x dealer and you did your homework so we will honor that price." After all taxes, fees, ect. I paid about $1k under MSRP which I was happy with.
Not sure where I am going with that story, just wanted to share my experience since it may help you. |

No USAA or competing offer, but my experience seems similar. Thanks.
