bleeding coolant

when i collect my car from my mechanic after a coolant change. Should I bleed the coolant by doing the ignition sequence to turn on the water pump. I have told them to do this but I'm just wondering if I should do this just to make sure it's been done incase they haven't done it correctly ?

Couldn't hurt. But you could just keep an eye on the level and if steady then dont

If they're an independent BMW shop, or are very familiar with BMWs, then I wouldn't bother. You'll know if they bled it wrong if an overheat warning occurs.

If you do, make sure you put a battery charger on.

You could also just ask how they bled the coolant; if they give the correct answer and they are a reputable shop, I would be comfortable that they did it correctly.

Once you drive it and if it doesn't over heat then the system wil have bled itself anyway; but you could check the coolant level once it's cooled off just for good measure. If you don't trust the shop to work on a BMW, then don't take it there.
