Rough idle, Service Engine Soon. Goes Away After Restart?
Hey Guys,
On my way to work today, the car was running perfectly. I exited the freeway, and stopped at the light, and all of a sudden the car started idling rough and the SES light came on. After pulling away it felt the car was running on 5 cylinders. I pulled into the parking lot, turned the car off and started back up and it went a way. Any idea what this could be? I just changed the plugs, coils, and flashed a stage 1 MHD tune last week. I'm bone stock otherwise. Any help is appreciated. |

What is a shadow code?
I just drove it to an appointment and everything was fine. I am going to read the codes later today when I get a chance. I will report what I find. |

Sounds like a maybe bad injector. Does it throw any codes on a cold start after sitting for 8-10 hours?
Can you replicate the issue again? Try to get a log of it. |

Okay, it happened again and I was not able to get it to go away with restarting the car. I drove the car for about 5 min this morning and stopped at a light, and it happened. Same codes. It seems cylinder 5 is not firing anymore. Could the coil pack I just installed already have gone bad? I am going to try moving the coil pack to another cylinder tonight and see if it the problem follows the coil pack.
Could this be a bad injector? |

Check that the connector is fully seated. I got through 3 cylinders when I replaced mine before I noticed that they weren't being drawing in fully by the lever. There shouldn't be a gap at the end if it is in there right.

Update:
I replaced the cylinder 5 coil pack with one of the old ones. It's been 2 days and I haven't had the problem re-occur. So hopefully it was just a bad coil pack. |
