Unhappy 435D Sluggish after latest update

As the title says...the car feels more sluggish after a recent update.

I took the car to the dealer for an unrelated issue and saw that they performed an update on the car (a lot of ECUs were done).

Since then, the car is slower to accelerate - it feels like turbo lag...
And when it does go, it doesn't seem to accelerate as fast as before.

Anyone have any idea of what could be wrong?

Possibly unrelated, but since my visit, I noticed a weird sound coming from the engine compartment after turning off the engine.

It's a rapid ticking (pretty loud) which lasts for around 5 seconds after the engine was turned off. I can't hear it while the engine is running. It just seems to start when you turn off the engine.

I haven't heard it before I had the software update. I'm not saying it's related necessarily...just that it wasn't there before.

Don't you just love internet advice....

OP, my 330d makes that sound sometimes, I think it is the fuel in the high pressure rail bleeding out after the engine stops. Mine is not as loud, but camera mics can distort sound levels.

My bad plugs=injectors (diesel) and the freaking ticking sound after crank arm stops and electric gizzmoz versus the ticking BMW camshaft mechanics that almost sounds like the engine running dry on oil but hey, I hope I made som good laughs.

Would be great to hear what it actually was though. English second language. English engine language not great (spark/injectors etc). My bad.

I asked again this morning, but so far they don't know what it is.

So I went to a different garage and they seem to be a lot more professional than the last ones.

For one, they told me the ticking is normal.
It's due to the recent update, where now the EGR valve is going to a "self cleaning" phase, as these valves apparently were prone to sometime fail.

Second, they tested against a 335 and told me that the performance is the same.
This means that it could have been a combination of adaptive values which got reset and potentially some different fuel.

Just to be safe, I'm replacing the fuel filter now, so I hope everything's going to be fine.

I would install an AWRON electronic gauge to have better check, investigate a oil-catch can and look into a Wagner Intercooler upgrade, and never, never, ever run engine hard until it is at temp. Extended instrument panel has a oil temp, not water temp, which is great.

Also, shorten the intervalls of oil change in gearbox/engine/differential.
