Lower dashboard colours
If you have a non-black leather interior on an F30 M-Sport, (i.e. coral red, oyster, or saddle brown - but not one of the individual interiors), is the lower dash (i.e. below the trim finishers) the same colour? Or is it black?
I was trying to figure it out looking at some of the very nearly new used approved cars, but it seemed to be black for some and the colour of the leather for others, so left me a bit confused! I've ordered mineral grey with oyster and aluminium with black trim finish. I have a slight concern that if the oyster colour goes all the way up to the aluminium and black it might look a bit too light with not enough of a contrast. If the lower dash is black then no issue. To be honest, I'm probably worrying about nothing anyway! I'm sure many of you can relate though - there are almost too many choices to make. Thanks in advance. |

I have Oyster / black in my M135i. That is to say all the dash is black. Oyster is restricted to the seats and door cards. It looks fantastic.
Oyster dash looks dreadful. |

Thanks Nick. Is it the LCI F30 the same though, that's the big question!
I agree the oyster looks great with just the seats and the door panels, as you say, not quite so sure with it covering the lower half of the dash. |

Its the same colour as the seats. certainly the case for coral red. if you order leather instrument panel then its black i.e. coral red seats and black lower dash |

What I'm talking about is shown here -
This: http://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/3-Series/3...cmdc=se_na_re_ Versus This: http://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/3-Series/3...cmdc=se_na_re_ Not immediately obvious from the AUC description why they are different? |

I'm still struggling to get my head round this as there are a lot of cars showing as June registered or later on the AUC website that have Oyster leather with a black lower dash but don't appear to have the full leather dash. Whereas there are others which appear to be the same spec but have the oyster dash... |

Re oyster on an LCI, lower half is Oyster (whereas pre LCI it was black). I have specced the leather dash, and in which case, dash is all black again. I was very unsure about an oyster lower half dash, so that's why i went for leather dash option. There was a chap on here with an LCI in oyster so you can see what it looks like and whether you like it. |

It being an LCI change makes sense. When did the LCI cars start being delivered? |

Thanks Nick.
I think that combo is only possible on the F30 LCI if you also have the leather instrument panel, which is an additional £875. I prefer the pre LCI oyster look with the black dash I think. Might have to go back to the dealer and have another look. I sat in one (champagne quartz with oyster) at the weekend and liked it, so maybe just my memory playing tricks on me.... |

Mine in oyster. i couldn't live with the red on the lower dash. Otherwise I would have had CR. Not the best photo as the sun has made it look white.
More like it.

I might be completely missing the point here, but I thought the colour of the lower dash was a factor of the spec. MSport get dark lower dashes like NTG's and mine), whilst Luxury gets the lower dash matched to the seats?

I think what you say is a given for Luxury models and a right lottery with M Sport.

Thank you. That's what I have put on the order form, but with a mineral grey exterior.
Will go back to the dealer and take another look, but I think it looks great in the pictures! |

If your new car is lci then go on the configurator and build you car with what you've spec'd. You'll see how it comes.
From what I've seen oyster leather comes with oyster lower dash unless you spec leather dash then it's all black dash. |

I actually like the 2 tone dash! Not in every colour though, just the oyster one

Doesn't the 4 series get a different color bottom dash section and the 4GC, could some photos be of that?

I'd be tempted to specify leather dash or change to merino leather plus individual dash - though it works out as extra £2k - to uplift the cabin quality.

This was something I specifically asked the salesman when I was in my local dealership the past week. I'm looking to place an order on an F32 430d and after seeing someone with Coral Red Dakota Leather and a black lower dash (on an F30) that was what I thought I'd choose if possible. When I asked at the dealership the salesman weren't too sure so he asked a more experienced chap and he mentioned on the F30's it comes with a black lower dash on the M Sport however on the F32's the dash comes coloured red. Now unfortunately I'm not too sure what the deal is with Oyster but I'd assume it may be the same? Or maybe it's just the Coral Red that comes with the red lower dash on the F32?
They did say I can't choose to have the lower dash black. The only way to get rid of the red is with the leather instrument panel which is a pricey one for me. |
