Injector replacement
Hey Guys,
I replaced an injector I didn't need to. The old one still works fine so I want to know if I can simply swap it back, will the seal still be in good shape or do I have to replace it before sticking the injector back in? As soon as I removed the injector from the engine, I put the cap on the tip so the seal wouldn't swell. Also, if I'm going to do this, do I need to get a new decoupling element or can I put the injector back in place with the original one? Reason I'm asking these questions is because I cannot figure out how to get INPA to work and can't code the new injector in. It would be easier for me to simply put the old injector back in rather than spend hours trying to figure out how to get INPA to work... Thanks!

They are cheap, but the seal requires a special tool to install... As far as the decoupling element, I don't see how this could be a part that wears out. It's essentially just a washer that absorbs vibrations between the block and the injector..

I have a bunch of injectors i pulled a couple months ago and the seals are still flush.
I bought new decoupling rings but wondered myself why they cannot be reused. Better safe than sorry for the cost of a single ring, IMO. Is your INPA simply not working or are you having trouble figuring out how to code? Assuming you have software trouble as the coding process is ultra easy. Happy to help of I can! |

INPA is working, but when I press "shift+F4" to get to the injector coding screen, I get an error message ApiResultText: Error #95 SYS-0005: OBJECT FILE NOT FOUND. It seems like my laptop isn't able to communicate with the ECU for some reason.

I have JB4 + Backend flash. The ECU is currently flashed for E85 and JB4 was on map 0 when trying to get INPA to communicate with the car.

I swapped mine in and out a couple times with no issues. BMW recommends a lot of unnecessary things to replace constantly. Unless you have compression escaping past the teflon seal you have no issue.
