More power than advertised?

So we all know the regular M4 was under rated in HP and was closer to 490 HP than the 425 BMW stated, so is the GTS also under rated ?

Where did you get that number from?

The more reliable chassis dynos that can calculate crank output show the S55 more in the 450~465hp range.

Dinan claims 484 at the crank for a stock S55.It is not in their interest to inflate the stock number when they are trying to sell you power upgrades.

Since Dinan changed ownership, I am less trusting of what comes out of their PR material.

The dyno charts they supplied don't even show the entire rev range of the powerband, it stops well shy of the 7500RPM redline. I also doubt they tested the S55 on their bench dyno. I think there is a lot of marketing in their number. When I queried them about the numbers, they stayed very hush.

When did Dinan change ownership? Is Steve Dinan no longer in charge?

I dyno at 425/416 and423/430 at the wheels recently. My car is stocked. At a 15% lost , I'm not surprised by the 490 number

Where does that number come from?

Also, what correction was applied?

All you know is that you had 423~425WHP on that given dyno on that given day with a given correction factor. Trying to extrapolate crank power from that is a futile exercise .

I don't really want to contribute to opening up this ad nauseum discussed topic of how strong the S55 dyno but since it was a year ago or so since this topic raged the forum has anyone seen a reliable bench dyno run yet?

We recently become Dinan's newest authorized SoCal dealer, so we'll be providing dynos (Dynojet) of our own in upcoming weeks.

It will be interesting to see the relative (delta) increase .

Delta is what matters.

True, but it still would be nice to see how underrated BMW was with their ratings.

Waiting for this months Sport Auto mag which has a tech article on dyno testing. Hopefully they will provide some interesting info. I know they have previosuly discussed the "double dipping" of dyno correction on modern turbo engines, which some of us debated (amongst many other dyno issues) a few years back.

With the latest VW affair I am not as sure as I once was about the manufacturers adherence to EU regulations and EU's ability to police said regulations...

This months Sport Auto came but no article... Has happened before that an adverticed article is postponed at SA. Like the M5 CP Supertest which was published 2 or 3 issues after it was announced...

So hopefully it won't be too long
