DP Fix? Spacers?
Ok so I have three not ready monitors. Evap, Heat, No Cats. Wondering if a DP fix will take care of these? Mechanic said I should install a spacer at O2 sensors to lessen heat. Is that what a DP fix does? Been chasing this for a month now. Thanks guys.

When did you last flash the car? If you're running catless COBB tune Stage 2 and higher, you shouldn't need DP fix. DP fix simply gets rid of your CEL (check engine light)

yes
dp fix just takes the voltage from the first sensor and reduces it ~15% to make it seem like the cat is there and doing something spacing a sensor also changes voltage and is an old trick to produce a similar result I prefer the dp fix because it was an easier/cleaner install for me and I knew it worked. |

Did this recently, passed no problem. Just had to make sure the cat readiness was good like you said.

Oops you're right, sorry. Flash get's rid of CEL and dp fix does the rest.

I've used spark plug defoulers as spacers for the 02 sensors to clear catalytic converter errors on another platform (car was not tuned).
Worked flawlessly; however, that was still in the presence of the (worn-out) catalytic converter. I'm not sure how well it would work in the complete absense of a catalytic converter, I.E. catless downpipes. Could be worth a shot to clear the CEL; although, as with a DP fix, you'll still be sending a false signal to the DME so tuning will never be spot on - depending on how aggressive your tune is this could be a very dangerous condition. For this reason, I'd only run a DP fix (or spacers) on map 0 - or whatever the "bypass” map is. Plus, it would be far harder to physically remove the spacers than to deactivate a DP fix; so I'd still recommend skipping the spacers and using the DP fix at test time. Once the test is over, disable the DP fix and just let the JB4/Cobb continue to clear the CEL. Last edited by terryd5150; 10-04-2015 at 09:27 PM.. |
