If its such a "perfection" out of the factory, why every single professional track/road course drivers tweak their "perfect factory" suspension? Worrying about warranty is another problem. BMW owners should all have enough money to take care of big bills anyway.

You cant compare a daily driven luxury sports sedan with track cars. Its a no brainer if you want optimal performace that you'd modify everything in the car, and sit in an empty interior with bucket seats and 5 point harness with a roll cage. But to me, unless you are filthy rich and can afford multiple E90's, it seems a complete waste to modify something this good. I've done the whole extremely firm suspension thing with my Tein Coilovers. But this car to me is still a luxury sports sedan, not a very expensive track toy. Maybe I'm becoming an old fart at the age of 20, who knows. But I will be taking this car to the track to see what it can do in its more or less stock form.

There are people who will be satisfied with stock, and there are people who desire more performance out of it, while it might involve compromising a bit of comfort. That is no big deal to them(and to me), and these people are performance enthusiasts. Street driven tuned track car doesn't have to always have roll cage and empty interior with a shifter sticking out. I think you've only seen the extremes. Hell no, I won't go that far. But as far as mild-tuning is concerned, its no biggie, and it sounds like a good move to me if you desire even more performance out of this already great machine. Of course, thats if tuning is done right. Most people will slap on "race" springs and call it a day, thinking huge amount of negative camber and not-needed extra stress on the suspension is making their car "Feel" like a road racer. I am against that, but as far as good suspension tuning gets involved, the car with tuning will be superior performance vehicle than stock. Stock just won't cut it for some people. Including me. If I didn't have plan to change my car within a year, I probably would have planned out full suspension tuning by now. (thats if there are any specialist parts available yet)

halarious... who cares, let him change his suspension Geeze sounds like a bunch of haters chiming in..lol I commend your desire to retain BMWs design spec, but who cares... not everybody is in that path with their E90's and people should respect each others decisions. Dont loose sleep over it , its gonna look better than your stockie E90s anyway..LOL
take off the maxi pads and watch this guy mod his ride and have fun with it. |

granny tuning vs super duper track tuning. Specific track tweak are for those who are probably getting paid for doing whatever they are doing, or they are just really DEEP into it. Most mild tuners just find the optimal balance of tuning. They find that "rhythm" for their cars to handle at whatever tracks they will spend time on. More suited to specific drivers, not courses. And for some, they just enjoy EVERY single corner they encounter even in the city, it might not be turning a high speed corner @ 100mph, but they just enjoy that feel of turning, and feel of difference from proper tuning. Who wants to pay for bills that could've been under warranty? Those who decided to sacrafice all that for extra performance. Argh. This is just not working. Seriously, if you have so much against tuning, or just don't see the point, ignore these threads and move on. You will never understand. Some people just think tuning is plain dumb activity, which I totally understand, and agree with that point to some extent. No point of every single one of you "bmw-is-tuned-to-the-best-so-why-tune-that-is-so-stupid" people to come in and ruin threads around. I am just sick of it. No offense intended. Its just like those Steptronic discussion threads, all of sudden 6spd manual owners chime in and talk alot of crap, starts flame wars.

I support tunning, and if you think the car requires it, go ahead. I mean the guy that went to KAS thought he did an upgrade, most of the forum disagreed. I think its a nice upgrade, just not warranted. Again, thats my outlook on this car. Coming from a car that I spent 4 years sweating over, woring about, tunning, etc. I've come to a point where I understand that its better to invest in better car to begin with then spend money of aftermarket parts. A friend of my neighboors has a tc scion. A good inexpensive alternative to a carolla or a civic. He paid around 19.5k for the options he got. But the has now changed wheels for the second time. First he has SSR's, and now Volks. Looks decent, but the 5 grand he spent on wheels, he could have gotten a better car to begin with. That's how I look at it after spending 17k on parts for my teg. I changed nearly everything in the car. Its great, but as soon as you mess with factory, you loose warranty and reliability. I dont think the current BMW suspension is perfect. But its great for daily driving and the occasion fly through on curvey roads.

"Seems like something that would take away from the car" "Coilovers are nice, but I'm not prepared to drop $1200 on something that isnt really warranted" "unless you are filthy rich and can afford multiple E90's, it seems a complete waste to modify something this good" you reiterated 3 times how you wouldnt do it..called it a waste of time and money. and you cant do it unless your rich...lol then you go: I guess you arent a real enthusiast to lush for proving a preety valid point... sounds like shitting to me...lol |

They are all clearly stated as opinion. Taking them out of context is also a good job to try to make them appear as bashing.
Sounds like you need a hearing aid, or glasses.
