Alcantara Steering Wheel
Treated my self to a new steering wheel which I fitted at the weekend. It really is a thing of beauty to behold and to touch.
I had a custom trimmed alcantara wheel on my 197, and have wanted another since. Went as far as getter a spare wheel for my VX220 but sold the car before getting around to having it trimmed. I have been looking for a spare wheel for the F31 to get that retrimmed, but at the right price an M Performance wheel is an easier option. If I was spec'ing it myself then I'd have gone for a blue marker band, but I can live with the red. While fitment is pretty straightforward, if fiddly with the wiring, it is important to note that not all wheels have the four mounting holes needed for fitting paddles. Something to be aware of if you aren't comfortable drilling four 5mm holes in your new steering wheel. The wheel I bought was from a pretty basic car, no cruise or paddles, so I had to completely strip both wheels down and reassemble the goodies on the new wheel. Typically it wasn't until I was part way through rebuilding that I noticed the missing holes. Anyhow, nothing too complicated, and now it's installed I think it looks rather smart. Thanks for reading!

How much did it cost then? I find it hard to believe it's anywhere near as reasonable as the £130 DanDM paid to have his original wheel exchanged for one that had been re-trimmed in Alcantara:
