Upgrade options for 2007 e90 with idrive and nav?

I honestly just want a regular audio head unit in my car..... Perhaps one of the new units with Android Auto in it. I dont care if I lose my factory Nav, but my understanding was always because of the amps and idrive system that I didn't have any options.

Is this still the case?

I think it costs you like 3 grands to get the new iDrive system and everything done. I had the same idea earlier too and I gave up when I see the price tag. Not very sure tho.
