Upgrade regular steering wheel to M sport

Well I'm closer than I was last week on pulling he trigger on a 328 usedie. My internet lurking has brought up anotner question:

Is it possible to go from the regular steering wheel as found in a 2012 Sport to the later, thinner, M sport steering wheel? There seems a question over 1 or 2 stage airbags when our Merican friends have done this. Is it just plug and play if I buy one off a UK eBay seller? Is there an Aussie seller that can supply? I can't be bothered coding and all that, just don't have the time or skills.
Having that nice wheel would really get me over the fact I can't find the right car with Xenons!

Cheers in advance.

Hello again,

First off, the M steering wheel is thicker than the standard sport wheel. The standard sport wheel is very thin, plastic and absolutely horrible.

To not need to change the airbag you will need to use the F20 M wheel, it is a direct swap.

I did it to mine.

The F20 wheel new is around $800 from memory, perhaps search on eBay?

Good luck.

To change to that you will, obviously, need to change both steering wheel and airbag. I'd say that will be a couple of grand.

Here's an old pic of mine. This is the F20 M Performance wheel.

Keep in mind also, to the best of my knowledge anyway, you cannot import an airbag as they are explosive.
