Dealer says BMW Taking orders yet on 340i ?

My dealer has told me over the last month or so that they can't give me a production number yet for a 340i. A 328 they could. I live in PA. Last week they said this week. Any body else waiting?

I live in central PA and just finalized the order of my 340xi on Monday and got my production number the very next day. Ur dealer might not have or be able to find any allocation on a 340i yet that's probably why he cant get u a production number yet.

It sounds like the dealer does not have a production number (allocation) available and they are just stringing you along until they get one. If they have a production number it takes them literally a few minutes to enter the order and you walk out with a printout that shows the order and production number.

I ordered on June 4 and that day had a vehicle inquiry report showing my production number and the order status.

That is BS. Ordered on June 6th and received production on June 8th (probably could have gotten it on June 6th had I asked).

I just called my dealer. He said in the PA, NJ area BMW has not allocated 340I, orders on hold. California has 130 spots. He is trying to get an allocation from another dealer.

California has 130 allocations. Seems BMW likes the West Coast better.

I ordered a 340xi around 7/19. Got my production number in 3 days. But it was for South Africa build, which doesn't start production until Aug for 2016 models. Don't have production date yet..... And I heard that it takes 3 months to get to East coast US from S Africa.... a long wait...

Sounds pretty fishy to me too. I ordered my 340 the first week of June and had the production number a day or two after. It doesn't make sense the BMW would withhold allocations for such a big market

No reason to change dealer just to get a production number. He will get you an allocation.

A dealer thats shady from the start is not someone you want to be doing business with. There are several CA's you can find on the other forum that will get you a better deal and no bs.
