My E92 M3 was with BMW insurance, surprisingly the cheapest by a few quid. They gave a decent quote for the F80 but insisted on a tracker this time??

Ended up at the Privelege, £350 a year. Excess is pretty high but for anything minor I probably wouldnt claim anyway. Purely there for major damage or right off.

I may think about a tracker next time round, but for now as BMW have all my money, the Privelege will have to do until the coffers are topped back up!

Paul.

Best quote by a fair way was Admiral at £464. Protected no claims and business use. Excess was £600.

haha, i know that feeling!!

Thanks for the advice guys. I find shopping for insurance so boring and usually just go onto gocompare etc, but for the M4 id rather shop around

Just got a 1st central quote of £1685!!! And that's 14 years no claims and no accidents or claims. I'm also on the wrong side of 50. Insurance is definitely a lottery!

Good AND cheap is normally difficult to find.

Good OR cheap...that's easily done.

here in the states, USAA is probably regarded as one of the best insurance companies (great service, won't leave you hung out to dry, etc) with rates that most other top quality insurers can't touch.

I've been to motor events where state farm, aaa and others have a vendor tent. They don't even bother giving me a quote when I let them know I've got USAA. USAA is limited to military and their families...is there a similar company in the UK?

Just use price comparison sites, that's what they are for. Just think whether you want to insure 60k car with the cheapest insurer. Good ones don't have to be expensive. I got very competitive quote from LV= and they ranked very high in consumer reviews.

It is also important to know what is in the small print and who will be difficult about paying out. Interesting to hear what people say. I crashed an E92 a view years ago and Privilige were very good, also re recent cracked windscreen.
