clutch delay valve

I can't remember back to my E36 M days...

premature question. do u think this M3 will suffer from the clutch delay I suffer from in my 1 series?

the clutch is outta the 1M right?

Thanks

Are you talking about the manual transmission?

I thought the e9x M models were without the CDV by default? It was only the 328, 335i etc. that had it? I could be wrong.

Maybe they'll do a similar configuration on the new M3.

I don't know for sure if the 1M and E9X M3 clutch delay valve were absolutely identical with the ones on regular series cars but yes, 1M was also with the CDV and many owners modified it (simply deleted or used a pre-modified unit instead) right after receiving their cars. It's a common mistake that most people think manual M cars come without CDV, in fact since this 'device' found its way in modern BMWs they also became a part of the M cars too.

Your question is one of the details that I was expecting to hear about the new M3. Guess we need to wait a bit more to learn the answer.

Not sure about other M cars, but there was no CDV in the E9X M3.

Clutch Delay Valve

Anyone know if this F8X/F3X gen has a CDV? And if so, where is it?

Starting with the F3X's, seems they may have hidden it in the slave cylinder or something. Doesn't appear to be easily visible along the the outside lines

Shift as fast as you want in this car. I have not noticed a problem...

For me it's not about fast but smooth and linear. I was driving a friends E36 the other day and forgot how much easier it was to feel the engagement point. That clutch is also way more stiff. Maybe it has something to do with the springs too.

Hey guys,

Sorry to revive such an old thread but how would you feel the effects of the CDV on the F80 M3?

Thanks!

There is no CDV in the F8x; just as there was none in the e9x.

Both of my F8X are DCT but my manual E92 has CDV. I changed the OE for a Jeeves one.

The E92 M3 did not have a CDV either. It had a connector in the same place but it did not have the restrictor pill in it like the regular 3-series' did. I actually bought an M3 connector and installed it in place of my OEM 335i CDV.

If you replaced the OE connector in your M3 with an aftermarket one you did not accomplish anything.
