Bimmerfest 2016 Venlo, Netherlands

Hi guys,

As many of you may know and may of seen, a few of us drove over to the Netherlands for Bimmerfest15 in June. It was a great weekend and had an absolute blast.

We are planning on going again in June of next year but this time making it into a Euro trip and hopefully get some more cars along with us.

The plan is to take 7-10 days out and drive through Europe starting off with bimmerfest then heading down through Germany, Austria, Italy and finishing off in Monaco driving some of the greatest roads in the world.

Just wanting to see who would be interested in this trip? Or even just tagging along for the weekend for bimmerfest.

The route hasn't been decided so certainly open to suggestions and comments.

Cheers,

Mike

Yep interested, not sure if I can commit the full 7-10 days trip. But Bimmerfest and tour at BMW Welt in Munich is a YES!

Good to see us getting some interested members.

No official date has been released for 2016 bimmerfest. Date to come the following months.

Once we have a rough number of people willing to do the trip I will start looking into hotels etc.

The plan at the moment is:

Meet up in south of England, euro train and drive over to Venlo for bimmerfest.
Drive to the Nurburgring, organise the ring taxi for everyone and if people want, drive the track in their own cars.
After that we shall drive down through the black Forrest to Munich. Visit BMW Welt and do factory tours etc.
Drive to Salzburg/ Innsbruck driving the zilleral high alpine road.
Drive to Verona, driving the jaufenpass/ stelviopass.
Drive to Genoa
And finally drive to Monaco, driving the route de genteelly/ route napoleon.
Finishing in Monaco with some sort of after party.

As I said before the route handy been finalised yet so if people have places they would like to visit or routes they would like drive, I'm certainly up for suggestions!

Maybe a group discount to have Sabine Schmitz take us around.
I think you did reply in the cutters forum.

Once we have final number we will certainly be sorting out group discounts etc. already in contact with BMW Welt to see what they can do for us. And will try organise grope discount on the ring taxi for Nurburgring.

Just hope we can get a good group of us together!

Also in my unfortunate experience, as in Top Gear, the broken car gets left behind.
I agree, this year only four of us made the journey over to Holland. Next year I had hoped to get a group of 8-10 cars. Makes getting discounts for hotels etc a little easier!

From Rotterdam we take a ~330km trip to the 'Ring. We can either go through Cologne, or stay a bit west as the west route has a good chunk of unrestricted Autobahn.

From there, we maybe drive ~570km to Munich and tour Welt.

Southwest from Munich, about 158km is the Hahntennjoch pass in Austria, which apparently is an incredible drive.

A couple of routes gets us to Milan another 470km away, then Monaco in another 300km, most of which is coastal driving.

Monaco to Calais is about 1240km, either through Paris or not.

Not including the UK to Dover trip which will vary wildly depending on where you're coming from, it's about a 3000km loop. That should be doable in 10 days.

I just did 1400 miles in 8 in the US. This is another 400 miles in two extra days. Though, that IS a lot of driving. I'd probably take a full two weeks for this. Should it be cut to seven days, I'd take Italy and Monaco out.

Heh...it's like a mini Gumball.

Big edit...I completely missed your post with your planned route. So...take this post with a grain of salt. You and I had pretty similar things.

Oh wow someones being spending some time on this!

Thanks for your input. Like I said the route is up to everyone to agree on and is only in the early stages of planning. I am currently away working and have been since June. I return back to the U.K in 10 days and will start drawing out the routes etc for people to decide. Obvs after I have had a blast around in my M4 which has been locked away for far too long

I will also be looking into Tshirts etc for people if they would be intrested as the plan is exactly what you say "a mini gumball"

I've not driven through any of Europe other than around the Cologne area a few years ago. But, I'm more than willing to help in any way I can.
The furtherst I have driven is to the ring a few months ago so it will be an adventure for us all

I appreciate the help though
