4600 mi, time for an oil change??
Just got an email from BMW saying my car is telling them I need to schedule service for "engine oil".
I have 4600 miles on her, got the 1200 mile service Nov 2014, so 8 months ago. Also, I do drive a little hard but, I'm getting 21.9 MPG average on computer. Seems too soon, no? |

Yes, my next service is in 12k and I've done 5k. I drive it even harder, my mpg is about 17.

Just go to vehicle status and check engine oil.
It will probably tell you to change oil on it. If so, just go and get free oil change. |

Is your car a year old and they forgot to reset something after the running in service?
I know your intervals are different in the U.S. than here in the UK. |

I recently saw it was 8000 miles until next service on the dash. I will check the car through the iDrive when I get home. |

If they're offering a free oil change, I'd take it!

I'm gonna go there next wednesday and see what they say. I was gonna change oil again at 6k miles on my dime. If they do it now for free, I'll take it.

BTW, I just got free oil change at 5,500 miles. CBS was triggered on my iDrive.
So this was my second free oil change (1,200 service) from bmw within one year of ownership. |

I just took mine in and the service manager said BMW has the car request an oil change one year after the build date no matter how many miles are on the odo.

same happened to me ...
My OD was at 6000 miles, while my break-in oil changes was at 1,050 miles, only after 5000 miles and the computer ask for a oil changes .... I checked the message and it said 6/2015, that matched my build date ... Is that happened to all the Ms, oil changes based on one year not on the miles ?? |
