HELP - PC problem

So, ive recently put a new HDD into my PC with a new OS, i can boot from the new HDD with the old HDD plugged in, but cant boot from it when the old HDD is unplugged. With both HDD plugged in, i can get to the screen where i can choose which OS to run, but with the old HDD unplugged, i cant, and it just restarts over and over. any help would be appreciated..

Is it a new OS or cloned from your old HDD?

go into bios, select boot sequence and select the first device to be what ever you want e.g CD > ssdd> hdd .

see if that works, also if you have clocked the system then it might because of that since some hd are very sensative clocking

Cheers for the advice, but tried what you suggested and it still won't work.. And the PC hasn't been clocked.

Does the old hdd have jumpers on it? You may need to move them to set it as a slave

Did you install the new OS to the new HDD, while the old HDD was still connected?

It sounds like the OS installer has placed the bootloader (and perhaps even the whole OS) onto the old drive, rather than the new one.

Remove the old drive completely from the PC, and reinstall the OS onto the new drive and that should sort it out. Also make sure the new drive is connected to the lowest numbered SATA port on the motherboard (if you look closely you'll usually see them numbered 0, 1, 2, etc)

Agree 100% with above!
