How Do You - Exhaust Valve Mod

Other than putting the car into sport, is there a specific rpm that fully opens the valve prior to unplugging the wires?

Is there a better way?

It's not based off of rpm but throttle position. There is only a way with a tune or unplugging the wires to have it open all the time

Nope, and it doesn't look like I'm going to for the near future. My HVAC just died and all my fun money will be dumped into that project. (there go my v803's also)

How does this valve mod work? I put in sport mode, warmed up the exhaust and turned the car off. Then unplugged the wire, sounds about the same...did i miss something?

I believe you have to unplug while the car is running. Also, I think you need to be above 2500rpm to have the valve fully open...but I'm not sure.

I just started the car, let it warm up for a minute, set to sport +, revved it up until I heard the valve open up, shut off car, unplug wire, and voila!

So no one can confirm if the 228 base with just Sport has this then. I hear a lot more intake noise but no exhaust sound changes.

I tried it and i could hear the valve opening. I didnt hear any difference even on cold starts in terms of exhaust. The throaty sound happens only above 3k rpm when you step on it which doesnt make sense under normal driving conditions. I guess its better to do a muffler delete instead

I highly suggest you do not delete your muffler. Contrary to how it may sound on other BMW's, it sounds horrible on the 228. I did it myself and you can search the forums from my videos.

I reinstalled my muffler the next day

This is from another forum in 2013 but the RPM range seems to match my 228.
