BMW connected drive - whinge
Hi guys
I generally hate whinging on a forum but there is something that is very much annoying me this may be better placed in a non regional specific nor F80 specific part of the forum but im not sure if it applies to other models. connected drive I want to use spotify, I want to use the lap timer (in theory) I want to use google maps as soon as I lower the handbrake and take out of park - it locks me out of these apps. basically you can use apps like spotify (if you want to sit in your garage with the handbrake up and in park) as you would know you cant put the car in park while its on so its not even a case of handbrake up at a red light - once you get going from being parked - locked out of apps im guessing this is a BMW Oz / ADR safety regulation....but its fucking annoying Is there a workaround, do other people share my frustration or I am just being a whinging prick. thanks B |

You should be able to code it out. I'm looking to do the same, have got the cable and access to the software, just haven't had the time.

I got this as a reply from DVDMotion - http://dvdinmotion.com/bmw
Some of the Office and ConnectedDrive functions are unlocked by the video in motion software itself. This should include the e-mail reading as well. However, if you need full internet browser unlock, we can provide this as separate download. The internet in motion software is being sold alone for $159. If you buy it in a bundle with video in motion, the total price is just $199. |

Didn't think I should start a new thread about a similar topic...
Compatibility with iPhone / iOS I hadn't driven my M4 in about 4 months but when I recently got in the car and connected my iPhone, I couldn't use the car's interface to play the music on my phone. I tried updating the latest software and importing via USB. The update was installed successfully but I still have the problem. 4 months ago it still worked so I'm assuming the problem is mainly to do with the version of iOS. Does anyone else have this problem? |

Yep, most of the Connected Drive stuff is pretty useless.
You can use Spotify whilst on the move, provided you've connected your phone via USB or the cradle before you start. Its all a bit flakey. You can get the inconvenience feature disabled by coding - do a search for DVD in motion. If the Calendar worked whilst in motion I'd use it. It also does not support Apple Music (side issue I know) which is a pain. |

While I am driving an M50d rather than an M3/4, I regularly use Apple Music.
It works both when the iPhone is connected via Bluetooth or USB. Haven't tried spotify. |

Every time it seems like a different sequence App on then plug in to usb cord then turn car on but then I can't tell if I'm still in Pandora/Spotify Is it just incompatibility issue or an oz regulation issue Aarghhhh.... Last edited by samboy37; 01-31-2016 at 02:59 AM.. Reason: Spelling |
