328i with JB1
If anyone is thinking about getting a JB1 for their stock 328i then my advice is DO IT !!!
I purchased mine from Stuart @ BMR Autowerks in Auburn. and highly recommend him as he has been very open and honest with all questions asked. From the moment I fitted it I could notice a difference. The car feels so much better on part throttle and in all honesty it drives just as smooth as it does without it. I am good friends with Spiro from Autotech Engineering in Granville who has been tuning cars for over 20 years, when I advised him of the product he told me that piggy backs aren't all that bad if they have been done correctly and advised me that there were some pretty bad ones out there so asked me to bring the car in for some before and after dyno pulls so we could see if the piggy back was actually making more power and whether afr's were in check. I am waiting for the afr graph to be emailed to me as it didn't save correctly to my drive so I will post it as soon as I get it but here is the before and after power run. Thats good to hear, let us know how you go over the coming weeks. 23kw increase at the wheels. say 20% drive train loss that's 27kW at the engine. Total at the engine say 207Kw (27+180 stock).
What fuel do you run, 95 or 98 octane So is that on the 3psi setting or 4 psi. I heard the new units come stock 4psi now? You planning on doing any other mods |

98 fuel
No future mods planned apart from cosmetic ones, this is my wifes car. I did ask Stuart about the 4psi tune to which he advised that is only available with the JB4 not the JB1 I did notice the car is running a little leaner, still well within the limit, so would not want to run the 4psi unless I was able to check it on the dyno first. |

There is a difference in all modes, not much in comfort but more so in Sport and Sport+. Just feels better on part throttle, already used to the power and really missing my XR6T (Getting the zf rebuilt) For anyone in Sydney thinking about it go and see Stuart at BMR and he can test fit one for you, beleive me you will buy it after it has been fitted. |

Fyi I spoke with the guys at Burwood, they could not really offer any detail at all around AFR, before or after gains of any sort, safety, fuel efficiency, anything at all except to say they safely install them and haven't had any complaints on the 4 JB4's they havepit into f30 328's to date.
I have only ever had cars remapped on a dyno, had lots of those done over the years. Very sus on reliability, pinging etc. Guys any thoughts or experience you care to share Locally in Aus with our fuel and conditions, not US based etc via search? Thanks, |

I just received my bms stage. Hopefully install this weekend. From the research I have done the stage 1 does not push the cars limit. Running stage 2 plus down pipe plus ethanol fuel and all that jazz is another story. Note, that's just my opinion and any mods you do to your car is always at your own risk
Fuel....really not sure....I pump shell 98 Ron....I am sure that's fine on a stage 1 bms |

For the n20/26 engine in a 128i/228i/328i/428i/528i, your will roughly get around an extra 3-4psi over stock to bring the underated 180kw/350Nm to around 220kw/450Nm mark (at the crank). as Stuart from bmr autowerkes has already mention, there is also active motorweekes in burwood, and southern bm in Clayton. There are pros and cons to both ecu reflash vs piggyback. Hope this helps. |
