Injector replacement

I am not the first, but I wanted to add to the posts...

I purchased 3 new injectors from rockauto, SMP branded, but like others, when they arrived, they are OEM BMW stamped injectors -12 series, the newest available. I paid I think $110 each.

I just replaced the first 3 cylinders, since I have only had some misfires on cold starts on cylinder one.

Turns out to be a really easy DIY. Lots of good help around... if you don't have the INPA setup it is tricky, feel free to PM me and I can help walk you through it, I bought a $30 cable and it worked perfect...

Car likes the new ones, running perfect.

Yeah rock auto is the way to go!

Very nice.
So if a person has a bad injector they technically would only have to spend $330 on 3 injectors from rock auto (I assume they still have to be replaced in banks), install, program with inpa and they're back on the road.

This is pretty amazing news for DIY'rs.

I also bought injectors from Rock Auto and they were all index 12. Spoke to a tech at SMP and he said that they were BMW injectors just rebranded. I got all 6 and will keep them to replace my index 9 when they go bad. paid $111 each for them.

I have read here that you should replace injectors in banks, however my local euro indie said they usually only replace injectors as required, so they will only replace one if that is all that is required. Is this practice okay providing it is coded ect ?

i cant find any valid reason you have to change out a whole bank. BMW recommends it, and I've heard with the series -12, you are supposed to change all 6, not to mix. Plenty of people have changed just one with no problems so far. At your own risk I'd say...
