A different view angle of my M4

Last weekend, a bunch of us at tons of fun at LCMT. On one particular session, we were 5 drivers just playing around and passing each other multiple times a lap just for the sake of it, often doing late passes into corners. Such a great time we had. I find it almost more enjoyable just playing around with buddies, being off line most of the time, than just pushing for ultimate lap times.

The video below is an excerpt from our session from my buddy Phil's C5 Z06 point of view. Fastforward 2:00 into the video to see my M4. It's pretty cool to see my car that way . My rear NT01 were shot, you can see me struggling for traction on a few occasions . I'll post my own video when I have a few minutes to edit.

Good video.I went with 295's on the back and I find it to very neutral on a high speed track.Tomorrow I am out on the Mosport DDC which has a lot of 2nd & 3rd gear corners so we will see how that works out.

Agree, playtime with friends soooo fun! Great to run with guys that are fast, will pass you anywhere, yet are predictable and aware.

Looked like the C5Z had more grip and was catching you on braking that run.

Couldn't help but notice your flashing brake lights. Is that something you did. I don't think that is legal in the US.

It is legal.. All bmws do it at least since the E46. It happens when you activate ABS. That's stock, you can also program it to flash if you activate stability control. ( not traction control but stability) thats stock in europe but not U.S. (and is programmable as brake force display 2)

I coded it.

I wonder why it is not approved in North America, I find it is nice safety feature.

Not sure it is approved in North America. In North America, you get the secondary brake lights activated under hard braking, but not the flashing.

Note that it engages under "heavy braking"; ABS does not necessarily need to be activated for the lights to flash. I barely ever engage ABS at the track .

My rears had some cord showing and did not have much grip left, so the car was a little loose . I did not have the confidence to throw it into corners at the speeds I usually do, so I braked a little more going in. I usually don't brake at all going into turn-1 and I also took a wider line going into turn-1 to have the car going a little straighter over the crest to keep the rear planted.

Looks like a fun track. Love playing with friends or chasing someone faster than I am which is when I am likely to get my best times.

LCMT is a great track with good elevation changes. Michael Schumacher apparently called it the mini Nurburgring .

On the second day, I put the new tires in the rear and the worn out ones in the front. The balance was much better which improved my confidence and I improved my average lap times by over 1 seconds.

However, I am still waiting for Apex to come out with an 18x11 EC7 option with the proper offset so I can fit 305/35R18 NT01s in the rear.

Our club is very open, all car makes are welcome. I'd say less than 50% of the cars at our events are BMWs. We also partner with other car clubs such as the Audi and Viper clubs where cross-memberships are recognized. This opens a broader track calendar to the members of the different clubs. We don't have a huge population in the Montreal area, so the flexibility is convenient. I believe only the Porsche and Ferrari clubs are exclusive to the make. But we do have a relatively big Porsche contingent at our events with the occasional Ferrari showing up .

BTW, the instructor driving the yellow Z06 just traded his E46 M3 for the Vette this winter, he wanted something with more power so he could run with the pack .
