Below invoice possible for 335i?

I am trying to decide between 2015 335i and 2016 340i. While I prefer the 340i because it is the latest and the greatest, I wouldn't mind getting 335i as long as I am able to get a really good deal. In fact comparing the MSRP for my configuration, 340i is $2200 cheaper than 335i since many options I wanted are going to be standard on 340i.

I am going to be approaching dealers in my area next week and was wondering if it would be possible for me to negotiate a 335i for about $1500-$2000 less than invoice before any available incentives. Is this unrealistic?

I don't see any point in getting 335i if I don't get a substantial discount. I can as well wait till the demand for 340i eases a bit and try to get a decent deal on it.

Thanks! While demo cars are something I will consider depending on miles and availability, would it be possible to get $1500-$2000 less than invoice before incentive for non-demo cars?

I just bought a brand new 335i for under invoice. I found that local dealers in my area were willing to deal on cars in their inventory. I also had a USAA incentive that helped with the price. If you're willing to be a little flexible on the options/colors I think you can get a deal for around what you're looking to pay.

That's exactly what I am planning as well. Be flexible on the choice and hope that dealers would be motivated the get the 2015 cars out of their lot.

2k below invoice is a bit of a stretch before incentives. It looks like you are in Seattle area?

I would agree that ~$2000 below invoice before incentives is unlikely.

Yes, I am from the Seattle area. I heard BMW Bellevue is not very competitive in their pricing. Planning to go to bmw Seattle.

What would be a a reasonable point to start negotiations from? $1500 less than invoice? $1000 less than invoice? For any less discount, I will probably end up waiting and getting 340i since there won't be any price difference.

I'm a CA at one of the above dealers. Something to keep in mind, I'd be surprised if you get to anywhere close to your expectations in pricing. Also it looks like you are wanting a pretty sizable discount on the 340i which I'm sure won't be possible as it's not even a real car yet.

I was comparing the cost based on the pricing and ordering guide of 340i available here and other forums. I double checked and the MSRP of 340i is indeed $2175 cheaper than 335i for my configuration - Sports line is standard, premium package is standard (except for leather seats), HK speakers are standard, Sport automatic transmission with shift paddles are standard, technology package is cheaper by $400. And on top of it, 340i gets a more powerful engine, led lights standard and nicer interiors! Maybe I am missing something here?

But its good to hear the perspective of a CA from the area. Will probably set my expectations right and end up waiting for some more months and get a 340i .

Competitive dealers (internet sales guys (e.g. BMW David)) do $500 over invoice no questions asked... pair that with $1000 off with drive for team USA event.. and get yourself a sweet 3 series for under invoice with no hassle

I am sure $500 over invoice will be much more easier to get since 335i are on their way out. I know a friend in California who got a 3 series at invoice this month and another who got 5 series for $500 below invoice. It looks like dealerships in California are quite competitive.

I was wondering if it possible to get $1500 below invoice before incentives. From what I have heard so far, it looks like it might be difficult. Assuming the 2016 pricing guide is accurate, it doesn't make financial sense for me to go for 335i if I don't get that discount. I can wait till October/November and order a 340i to my exact liking and also take advantage of the holiday incentives. I might probably end up paying a bit more, but at least I will get a MY 2016 car with new engine.

I am also seriously considering MB C400. It looks amazing and I have heard MB dealers are giving crazy discounts on the C series.

Decisions, decisions, decisions!

I test drove a 2015 C400, 4matic, and imo its not as nice as a 328i in terms of handling, power, transmission, and i didnt take it even though the dealer offered $11k off of a $55k MSRP C400

You have to have perfect timing.

Quarter end on a weekday, target a slow dealer, etc

$1000 below invoice can be done if you pick something from their lot

I got invoice on my 2015 428 GC and that was an order car

I did not test drive a C series yet, so I can't tell for sure. But I do have a feeling that the handling and transmission is not going to be as good as the 3 series. However, MB is miles ahead in terms of interior looks and luxury.

That's what I hear. I am in no hurry for a car immediately. So I will wait till I get a deal I am satisfied with.

Aside from demo cars, also check-in to see if they have manager cars.

I'm in NYC... and I am set on EB color, not too much left in NE region.

Negotiated price with $1000 credit: $52900
It's a lease.
