Does DME replacement remove tune?

The DME failed on my tuned (OFT) 335i and was replaced by the dealer. Does this remove the tune? The OFT acts like the tune is still installed (it still shows the correct tune file as being in use, though I'm not sure if this is coming from the DME or the OFT), but the car doesn't feel the same (my butt dyno may need calibration since I haven't driven the car in over a week).

If you changed the DME then yes your tune has been removed.

That's what I figured. I'll shoot Vishnu an email about resetting the OFT, and if that isn't a good option, then maybe it's time to give MHD a try.

Get the old DME back from the dealer. If it's an MSD80 and you had a mosfet fail, it can be repaired.

Hopefully you didn't pay much to have the job done. Employee cost on a new MSD81 is $1005, retail is $1850. Flashing and coding is also inflated.

Good luck with Vishnu and the OFT. If you don't get help, let me know. There are other ways to fix it.
