Seat Belts: Replacement
Looking for guidance on replacing factory black seat belts with red?
I love what MB has done with some of AMG lines (red seat belts). I have 2014 335 sedan black on black. Wanted to introduce a little color into the interior. |

Mechanic Feedback
I spoke to a BMW mechanic (independent) who convinced me not to pursue the seat belt swap.
According to him the cost and complexity were not worth it. Seat belts are plugged into the car's safety system (no surprise) along with the complex air bag configuration and a few others. Replacing the seat belts would carry a significant coding burden in addition, most mechanics (perhaps only independents) are not permitted to touch the safety systems. He have could of just said that. I got the impression he knew enough to know it was not worth messing with it. Perhaps it was business he didn't want. Regardless, it may be possible. However, it's not worth 2K+ to me. For now, I am going to learn to love my factory black ones. |
