Auto dimming mirrors

So I recall when i bought my car that it was meant to have auto dimming rear view and side mirrors, never really thought about it until recently but there is no visual indicator so how can I be sure i actually have them/that they are working?

I can see the little sensor circle on the rear view, but nothing for the side view mirrors?

Its a my14 328i with innovations and comfort access

The biggest visual indicator is the line running around he she of the glass on the side mirrors, like this: http://i3guide.com/img/bmw-i3-anti-dazzle.jpg

Point a torch at the small hole on the mirror with the engine running and see if what dims?

+1

And cover the (front windows side) sensor - that how I checked after retro fitting. It should go dark on all three mirrors within a few seconds.
