The curse returns

So I drive home from a friends last night and get home to find a fine blue smoke and a burning smell coming from the engine bay. Carefully open the lid and it's coming from the turbo side of the engine.

Let it all cool down some and close the lid on it for the night.

This morning has been wasted calling the garage and then waiting for the BMW Assist bloke to turn up. He's run the car for about 20 mins, found nothing and gone. Reassuring me there is nothing wrong and it's probably just something burning off and he gets it for about a week when he has to change his cars every six months or so.
"At least it's been logged if you have to take it into a garage with the problem", he said.

So I'm taking it out for a drive this afternoon and we'll see what happens.

I'll keep you posted.

p.s. The curse is all about me being a car killer. I saw off the Mazda 6 with 9 Xeon headlight units, 1 gearbox, 1 clutch & flywheel and 3 windscreens. 107k miles and 4 years. Piece of crap got replace with a BMW 320d...... does the saga continue or have I put it to bed? I guess we'll see.

With mileage that low, it probably is just something "burning off". I'm guessing it'll be fine after a few more miles... Good luck!

Hopefully its just something clearing up and it'll be OK. BMW quality should be pretty good. I had quite a few problems with my E46, but they fixed them all quickly and efficiently, so the overall experience was good.

I had this problem too smell was under the bonnet and they told me its cos i bought it from BMW with 116 miles on the clock as a demo.They said no one drove it really and when they did it was 2 miles here and there....the smell went after a good run down the motorway after about the 400 mark...bit like the leather smell scenario...it just goes

OK, so after the bimmer bloke left I had a good poke around the engine bay, and couldn't find anything at all. Must have all burnt off on Friday night.
Took the car with me to play rugby in Wandsworth and after some nasty central London traffic it was still fine. So I guess it's gone away and I was panicing over nothing. But then I've never had smoke come from the bonnet from a company car.
