DIY Turbo Inlets - N54 (Solid gains)
There are a few turbo inlet kits and can't help but feel these are pretty simple and wish they were less expensive. Any thoughts on how easy it would be to source hoses/couplers and associated parts? I'm thinking these can be done for less than $200.
Anyone? |

1.75 to 2 inch elbow x2
2 inch aluminum tube (4in) x4 2 to 2.25inch coupler x2 6 feet 2inch mcmaster Carr high strength hose That's literally all you need to make a vtt replica, won't be as smooth inside or pretty outside as theirs but will have similar flow characteristics. I have mine waiting to be installed |

Could you post pictures of your setup when done? Where did you source the parts from?

Well now that RB is coming out with his inlets at a much more competitive price point than others, and VRSF has said theirs will be out soon even cheaper, I'm thinking the DIY route is close to pointless. For my car I'd need to weld on 3 barbs for the DV's and PCV, and I am no welder at least not of thin aluminum. So figure the basic DIY parts including filter(s) $200 plus another $100 or so for welding it's getting close to a wash. Plus to do a DIY with filters on the hot side, you need to relocate a bunch of stuff.

It will be interesting to see the results of VRSF and RB inlet products. Turns out VTT & RB are lashing out at each other like dogs, the truth couldn't be more clear. These guys are laughing to the bank with overpriced products. Neither will earn my business nor support with their awful attitude. I still believe we can get these done under $200, sick and tired of being taken advantage of just because. THESE REMAIN TOO EXPENSIVE.

Ours will have the filters located at the turbos rather than the oem location. Relocation brackets will be included for the coolant reservoir and vacuum canisters and our kit will be compatible with every chargepipe unlike the other guys.
