Help me understand

so this is my first BMW. still confused on the service timeline for this vehicle.
i've had my break in 1200 mile service done. Now I'm at 3000 miles. but this message pops up onto my dash, "service due since 600 miles"
what does that mean?

Maybe they didn't reset it right?

Call your dealership to ask lol. It shouldn't be that difficult to wonder to them why you need to bring her in again unless they missed something and forgot to tell you.

The service department needs to reset the service reminder . no big deal just schedule a quick stop by. They should be able to use their scan tool thing and set things straight for you.

You are correct. I never heard of a second break in period. The service department is in error.

Umm. Take the car back, they forgot to reset the service light. It says "since" meaning you missed the 1,200 service mark.

After 1,200 miles, just just have to worry about oil changes every 10k and brake fluid flush every 2yrs. Everything else relates to wearable items.

off topic- why couldn't they display an image of an M4 instead of a 435

thats what i thought. it got me confused since it says "since 600 miles", I'm at 3100 miles right now. so that would mean at 2500 miles was the due time. if it said since 1900 which is the difference from now to the 1200 mile service then it would have made more sense.

If you're at 3000, and you brought her in at 1200. That means your dealership is telling you to once again bring her in at 2400?

That doesn't make any sense. As far as I know there shouldn't be 2 break-in services. There is only 1, that's at 1200.

Edit: Unless your dealership does things differently, that it has 2 break-in services. One separate from the other to unlock everything, which is fine. But that is a bit odd because I don't think dealerships does that in general for the Ms. I could be wrong of course.

The dealership is wrong. It's that simple.

Go to another dealership. This is inexcusable for such a simple service. Imagine what they'll get wrong in the future.

They are telling you 2 services because they think you are stupid, and they don"t want to admit they made a mistake not resetting it and have you waste your time coming back in.

In the UK, my F80 has it's service after 20,000 miles, after the 1,200 mile break-in service. How can this be?

They did the same to me...they did the usual "reset" to tell the car it was serviced but it is stuck at 1200 mile intervals...they needed to do an extra step and reset it for 10000 mile service intervals now rather than the 1200 mile. No biggie, literally a 5 minute plug in visit they did in the parking lot.

That's not correct. You sure it's not Km? As of 2015, BMW oil change intervals went from 15k miles to 10k miles.

I guess some smart guy finally figured out that 15k miles between oil changes was way too long. I was not a fool for paying between oil changes pre-2015.

Unless, EU uses a different oil spec.

My UK F82 has had its 1200 mile service, next service due in 15,000 miles.

OP,

Check your vehicle info section in I drive, it should tell you what it thinks it needs doing.

Just double checked car. The 1st service is due after the car has done a total of 20,000 miles (not km).
