Australian M2 thread

Ok it may be a little early but I think we need an Australian M2 thread in regards to: deposits, price, dealership, colours, finance interest rates (full circle?) etc. I was about to put a refundable "expression of interest" deposit on one at my local dealership in Brisbane but I am not sure if I should wait until its actually released at the Frankfurt motor show or not just so I can see confirmed power numbers, specs and actually see the car for real rather than a render...thoughts?

If you have a grand to spare, place your deposit. It is refundable so you have nothing to lose!

Yeh you are right, as long as its refundable I have nothing to lose so ill just put down 1k and then wait for the official release. This thread is also for others that will possibly order one as well though so we can share info and pricing.

I don't think dealers would have a price yet but I think it will be around 110 - 120k...if its less than that's good but I doubt it.

Guys if a CSL version does happen and makes it to Australia. What do you think the price would be if a base M2 is 120k?
I believe the E46 CSL was 210 when the standard car was 158k so an increase of 33%. If you adopt this to the M2 of 120K you get $160K. that would be awesome if it was,it still places itself under the M3/M4 price but BMW in fear of losing m3 customers and also to compete with the GT4 it may be more like 190/200K.

Thoughts?

So who's buying and what colour have you picked, from the limited palette?

Transmission?

I wouldn't pick any of these 4 colours if there are more choices. If I'm forced to pick one (because I really want the M2) it would be LBB.

Manual transmission for sure. Love them. M2 may also be the last M with the manual.

Would love to park M2 in garage with 1M but still not convinced at the moment.

You Alpine?

How are dealerships taking deposits before even having a part number for the car?

My local dealer is taking a list of names but won't take deposits until they have something more official to produce receipts against.

I think it depends on the relationship you have with the dealer Craig, some dealers are asking 2k as an expression of interest deposit which I think is wayyyy too much and its hardly binding anyway because I dont think you can sign a contract on a car thats not out yet. So in saying that they could technically take your money, say you are 1st in line but screw you over down the track. Have you spoken to anyone at Westside yet?

Westside...hmmm. After my dealings with their sales team in the past, they'll be fourth on my list of dealers to buy a BMW from in Brisbane.

I might not be looking at M2's for a little while yet. I'm heading up the coast to look at an M235i later this week.

I'm thinking its time to get back to bimmer, haven't had one for a while only cause the current BM range just DONT do it for me, I think they have lost their ways a little.

It's gotta be a manual, colour wise hmm yeh this has been discussed overly well on the M2 forum. I'd really like a NON black sapphire black, citrus, ruby, carbon for example but ney it's not an option, LBB to me is too much Mitsubishi ASX (it's a mitsi!)or Mazda 3 lol so maybe grey, or white and a wrap? Dunno

LBB for sure. Yet another blue M car for me to add to the ever growing list of blue M cars I've had. But that's if I get one.

Really have to see what it'll be like... To me I think it'll just be a m235i with all the m performance bits and a tune. The spy pics aren't inspiring... I know on the main forum people are very excited about it, but I think it'll disappoint. The 1M gave the M2 unfair hype and expectation.

No bespoke engine... Power output is the same as a tuned n55 engine with jb4 or any tune.

A few suspension mods, a few tweaks here and there... Unfortunately the m235i is too good for day to day drive rather than a m2

I'm currently driving a M235i, looking at getting into a LBB or AW M2 next year some time

With M3 prices crashing perhaps a 3 is a better option? On the plus side surely this means the 2 will have a lower stating price point. Here's hoping, otherwise a 3 might be a better option.

Yea the M3 dropped 15k last week... Id still assume the M2 will cost $100k base plus on roads. A fully optioned one will cost $120k drive away...

It's still a 40k difference base vs base

With recent news of the M2 specs is anyone else not feeling the value?
No S engine, No CF roof and crappy 2 series seats. I may as well pay the extra 20k(allowing for discount on M3 price vs no discount on M2) just get the M3 but the problem for me is its too big for what I want in a drivers car.

Pricing for M2 in U.S. Is approx 50k and m3 is 65k. With the recent BMW discounts price difference of M2 vs M3 comes more inline with U.S but as far as what we pay and value it just highlights another factor where we get bent over here in Australia.
