New JB Plus tuner any reviews??

Hey Guys,

So i was thinking of getting the jb4 tune to get some more horsepower to start without any crazy mods. But i just noticed this on their website and thought to myself it would be perfect for what im trying to accomplish and its only $279. I just want to hear other peoples thoughts and opinions before i go ahead with it and get some junk POS if you know what i mean. Heres the link: http://www.burgertuning.com/jbplus.html

Looks really easy to install just havent heard or seen anything about it.

Thanks for the feedback

I had one for a while. Liked it and it was a good bump in power but for not much more you could pick up a JB4 or Cobb.

The jb4 is $200 more but the cobb is mad expensive. My whole thing is I dont plan on making my car a race car and the jb4 tune i can use due to my only upgrades is basically the same as the jb4 quick.. I was just thinking about saving a couple hundred bucks just wanted to see if people thought it was worth it at all

JB+ is a decent product that bumps the power up a bit. I had it for about 2 weeks and got bored and kept being tempted by reading these forums so I traded it in for the jb4.
I guarantee that after awhile you'll want more power. Plus the features (safety and convenience) that the jb4 come with are worth the extra $$ just on their own not to mention that map1 on the jb4 is quite a bit faster, and safer, the the jb+ on its normal setting.

JB+ is good for if you don't want a big increase in power, and just want simple.

JB4 gives MUCH more expansion ability (flash tuning support, future mod support, code clearing, data logging, gauge hijack for boost/Timing/Target, etc) for not much more money.

Nah that makes sense. I liked it and I'm not much of a racer either. It's a very modest bump in power, you really only notice it when you get into the gas pedal a little bit. I don't have the JB4 and don't have much interest in it, but if you plan on modding heavily I'd just save more for the JB4/Cobb.

In our experience with this platform for the past 6+ years most users find the JB+ is good at first but quickly seek more.

We've also heard many many times before that folks aren't look for race car or big power and they just want a little bump in power. Lets be honest, we've all said that to ourselves

As soon as you feel that bump in power from the JB+ your mind will change.

Give it a shot if you want but I'd sooner tell you to get the JB4, it's inexpensive for how much it offers. The JB4 is a much more complete tuning solution and arguably a safer choice when compared to JB+.

Thanks for the info guys now its time to make a decision. Anyone know the hp and tq increase on the jb4 compared to the jb+ with my mods which basically only consist of the bms dual cone intake. Thanks again as im learning the ways of German engineering.

I'm sure. I'm definitely in the minority here in not seeking big power gains. I don't track my care and rarely even speed. I was happy with the JB+ and wouldn't have moved on if I didn't get a good deal on my current tune. But yeah OP, if you even think there's a chance you'll want more power than the JB+ provides I'd just go straight to the JB4.

You are few and far between but nothing is wrong with that so as long as you enjoy your car.

We also have customers on old JB2 and JB3's. Some people don't need the latest and greatest.

The baseline is different on these graphs so you need to look at the delta and not just peak power but power under the curve.

JB+

JB4

some people also said the jb4 would be safer? Why is this does the car run too lean on the jb+ if its turned up?

Its safer because of the built in ability to monitor certain vitals of the engine. If it detects problems with boost, afr, fueling, etc, it drops you immediately to a stock settings so no possible damage could occur.
The jb+ at its default setting you will probably never run into a serious issue but if you crank it up to its max, that could change. You'd never know if a serious problem occurs, hope that the car's dme catches it before its too late. Additionally, with the + you cant log anything to diagnose problems or catch a possible upcoming issue.

jb+ default or low setting = you'll probably be ok
jb+ max setting = you'll probably be ok but you never know = go with the jb4 and have less worries and more

The JB+ is safe.

The JB4 gives you the ability to record & review datalogs, ensuring that everything is running like a top.

Jb+ only cost around $100 used. I have been running mine for a long time at max setting. I do get over boost codes sometimes. I have to pull it off and put it back on usually, that is a little annoying. The first time I put It on, I had a lot of problems but now it only takes me 10 seconds or so. My car definitely feels slow as sin without it. I will be moving on to the mhd flashing solution soon as I have access to e85.
