Buying an E93 Cabrio

Hello 3 series forum, I'm going to get rid of my 2011 128i and buy an older 3 series convertible two door with navi and bluetooth, what year is he best? As far as the technology part of it because I've been reading some years really shit the bed on that end due to common issues. Does anyone have a 335i Cabrio with those options? OR ? What do you guys think? Also what should I pay if I found one with 55k miles a buddy of mine has one for sale.

Thanks!

335 or 328? Idrive was upgraded in 2009. If you want it get a 2009. Otherwise 2098 is fine. Also look at an IS if you can afford it. The best of both worlds. N54 engine LCI refresh. finally if '08-09 check to see if wastegates snd hpfp were done. This is warranty work and free and still covered If its under 100k. They're the two common problems. But really idrive in '09, oil cooler standard '08+, that's the major changes mechanicaly and electronics.

I bought a 2008 e93 335 with 10k miles in August. Awesome car. I had an 2009 E92 335 xdrive before that. I haven't had any problems with the E93, although it's only got 15k on it now; I don't drive it in the winter. The iDrive on the 2008 is ok, but I use my phone for nav. I totally prefer RWD to AWD as far as the fun factor goes, and driving with the top down increases enjoyment 1000%. I swapped out the runflats for Michelin PSS and mounted 441m wheels. Extra weight on vert is negligible considering the tourque on this car, and top down driving makes you feel like you're driving much faster, anyway.

I have a 2011 and I couldn't be happier- with the exception of this temperamental hardtop sometimes, but I guess you can't always be lucky

208,000...awesome. I've had two 335's back to back and have had good luck with both. Turbo replacement or anything major by 208k?

Typical stuff wastegates blown. My warranty was dead so I went aftermarket. HPFP x5. They were all under warranty and last one is the new redesigned one and holding up to the stupid ethanol. Wheel bearing, radiator and water pump both at 200,000. That's it.

I've got my heart set on a 335, I'd hate to get one without the turbo, I've also been looking at the 2012's as well... My price range is roughly 30k so.. I'd like one to be certified as well.

The Mish Pilot SS are the BEST, I had those on my VW Jetta, unbelievable difference.. Quite pricey though, well worth it!

Only issue we have had with our '08 e93 was the lock on the glove box failed. Thankfully I was able to get it open but not sure of what to do "fix it" or disable it altogether. The fuel pump died on us right after we purchased the car and was covered under a warranty from the place of purchase.

Oh, for me, there is another issue, it's not a stick.

If I'm getting once I'm definitely getting a certified pre-owned..

So true. Mine is a stick but it wasn't easy. When I bought mine new, they did a search. Nstionally, there were over 3,000 3 series cars on dealer lots new for sale. Of those cars, 2 were turbo convertibles with manual transmission. They didn't have the other options and colors I wanted either so I ordered mine.

2010-2012 have N55 motor. Not nearly as upgradable and internals aren't forged. IS has N54 motor like the 2007-2009. Preowned certified is meaningless markup to me. If it still has factory warrant who cares. The two problem areas are turbo wastegates and HPFP. If those have been replaced under the 100k+ warranty there's nothing else to worry about. If you can save 5 grand without the preowned bs you'll do way better.

adhesion in hard turns and road feel, and didn't cost that much more than the Hankook v12 evo 2 I was going to buy. I bought a set at tire rack for about $740, that's $70 before rebate from Michelin. I'm running 18x8 square, so the price premium was worth it for this size as they were not a huge jump up in cost over comparable tires. I was skeptical in spite of people talking the PSS up, but I'm happy with them.

When you sell yours let me know. I'll buy it. The 6MT 333is vert is the unicorn I've been looking for and NEVER been able to find. A truly rare car indeed.

Thanks. Yes, I'm skeptical too. I always wonder if they are "all that" as people say they are.
