Service Indicator question
I drove my wife's car last night and at start up the yellow service indicator comes on. When I toggle through the service menu (no iDrive) The front brake is the only choice that's in yellow and it shows that I have 900 miles until service is needed. The mileage has moved around a bit going from 6000 to 1300 and then slowly down to over roughly 2k miles. It then went back up to 900 when the light illuminated. I know that these sensors are dual stage and that the red brake light will show when the brakes need to be serviced. What does the yellow tell me? To do it soon? The car is a 2011 328i sedan non sport with a bit over 57k Miles. Brakes have never been replaced front or rear.

Just wait until the red "BRAKE" light illuminates and stays lit, that's when the pads are spent and need replacement. Yellow means they are close and to keep any eye on it. Once the "BRAKE" light illuminates you still have time to schedule a service appointment.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Is it really 900 miles or will it vary? Only reason why I ask is I have an appointment to get the oil changed and State safety inspection done June 1st and could get it done at the same time. Just don't want to do it prematurely if there is still life left.
