Roundels from ebay

Has anyone had any expirience with the roundels from eBay, do they fade. Should i spend the 40 dollars of one from bavauto, when they have ones on eBay for 6?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-Front-Ho...59a205&vxp=mtr

He sells like 5 every hour how bad could they be?

I don't have any experience on the eBay roundels when used on the hood/trunk. But I can say they are pretty cheaply made. I bought a couple - one to use on my steering wheel since the OEM one was chipped, and one to use on my ER carbon engine cover since it doesn't come with one. The one on my steering wheel is fine and has been for over a year which makes sense as it's never exposed to UV or heat. The one on my engine cover melted within a week. I popped the hood and saw that the top resin layer had separated from the plastic part with the logo which had separated from the double sided tape. It wasn't just an edge or something minor, pretty much the whole thing was melted.

Granted the engine is very hot, but others have run emblems on their engine covers without melting. I'd imagine that your hood gets pretty hot in the summer too especially after a long drive.

Question

Can anyone recommend a good place to get them without spending 80 dollars on roundels?

No, you pay for what you get. I've bought 3 sets of roundels from eBay, they all yellow in the sun and peel after a winter. They're crap. I replace them 2 times a year because I like the look of the carbon ones but they are really bad quality.

Yea I suppose your right I had the same issue with the carbon fiber ones too but I am switching back might as well get good quality although just feel like those I just thought there was maybe a better price than 33 each plus shipping

I bought one for my sister's E46 hood off eBay for $8 and its held up just fine (1+ years old and not garaged). Came with the grommets and has the BMW part numbers on the back (though I'm sure that's easily forged).

I'm guessing it's hit/miss/luck. Seller only has 50 items feedbacked...

I got the stickers and they've held up for 4 moths now. Through NY snowstorms, car washes and all. Best $12 spent

Careful with non-OEM roundels. This is what mine eBay special looked like after about 5 months...

eBay sellers use clever wording like "OEM quality" or "like OEM" to get you to think that it's OEM. And if the price is too good to be true, then it is.

The ones from ecs and bav auto are expensive but they still aren't OEM are they? Or just better quality.

Find an ebay seller with a high "top rated plus" such as this one

Oh cool. Guess I overlooked that I thought OEM meant like it had to come directly from the BMW factory

I'm rebuilding a wrecked E90 and have ordered a lot of OEM parts from ECS including that roundle. It's the same one you would get from a dealer.

Tischer has the OEM trunk roundel for $26.37:

https://www.getbmwparts.com/parts/in...&siteid=214672

Most of the aftermarket jobs are flat, where the OEM is curved to match the curve of the trunk. This matters.
