jb4 on dinan s2, and other maps?

I've read as much as I can, and know that I can run jb4 on dinan, using the backend flash option and selecting the 1m, 335is.

I want to know if I can run map 5 and 7.

How would you be using the JB4, other than for diagnostic purposes? Tunes aren't cumulative.

the dinan is a flash tune, jb4 is a piggy back. I'm pretty sure from what I've read that jb4 will increase the dinans boost and fuel trims. Also the diagnostics, gauge highjacking, code clearing, and user settings(wastgete position) are nice.

I read something about dinans timing being retarded, making map 5 and 7 un usable.

If it can increase the boost, that would be amazing.

You can use both at the same time. Just like when you use Cobb and JB4 together,
The JB4 will control boost and Dinan will control everything else.
You can run map 5.
In order to run map 7 your car need to be FBO ( downpipes, intercooler, charge pipe and intake) and you need to use race gas ( cannot use E85 because unlike Cobb, you cannot change the fuel scalar on a Dinan flash ).

I'm interested in to hear your results as I have the Dinan S2 tune as well and was thinking of adding the JB4. I've read that Terry is quite helpful and responsive with any questions regarding the JB4, so it wouldn't hurt to reach out to him.

thank you very much, i already knew the pre requisites to map 7, I can get 99octane at the pump and 109 in a can, both unleaded.

i have everything minus the charge pipe, waiting for time to install.

You definitely need a new charge pipe before increasing boost

Why not just ditch ur dinan flash. I understand Dinan flashes are expensive and u wna stick with it cause Uve have a decent amount invested in it already but it's obslete . It has no features whatsoever power levels are weak in comparison to basically every other flash or piggyback tune . Just buy a bt cable or get the MHD app and flash ur car ur self from many of the free backend flashes available or pay for a customize one

JB4 plus MHD or BB backend flash would be better. Skip Dinan all together. No reason to consider it with the JB4.

I bought the car with the dinan flash. I'm leaning towards removing it. I just don't want to have to pay for it to be removed. I think they quoted me $150.

I wonder if the mhd can overwrite the dinan.

Overwrite Dinan

I think someone already mentioned that the Dinan flash can be re-done to your vehicle as it is tied to the VIN, so resale of the car includes that extra value for the average buyer. Dealership does the re-flash.

As to your question...

In another thread, a post from MHD Tuning:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...n#post17695412

Here is an answer to the question as to whether MHD will overwrite a Dinan tune:

"I can't tell for 100% sure. But from my understanding most likely yes, because it should be read protected, not write protected."

i'm gonna try jb4 on dinan first. then flash over the dinan if need be.

another question. can the dealer remove dinan with jb4 installed? map 0, or will I need to remove it?

Good questions guys. I have a Dinan stage 1 flash that came with the car and I just ordered a JB4 last night.

Per Cobb, if a Cobb tune is flashed when there is a Dinan tune, it will overwrite the Dinan tune. Then if the Cobb is later removed, the Dinan flash will no longer exist. As inferred above, the MHD is most probably similar in that respect.

Whenever you put a new flash tune , it will delete the previous one.
Once you remove the flash tune, it will put back the stock one instead.

Yeah, Fred might have been better off going with the Cobb than the JB4, for these very reasons, as it seemed like he wanted the Dinan gone as altogether.

So if you overwrite the factory tune with a flash tune and then take off the flash tune the car goes back to factory tune?

No.

What happens is if you have a flash tune, and choose to later remove it, when you remove it it will restore the factory tune.

Hope I clarified.
