what is this pluggy sensor thing?

I looked under the hood of my 335i today and found this, unplugged. it's near the brake fluid reservoir.

What's it?

One of the pics is suck, i'm sorry for that. It has a blue insert, and 3 socket contacts.

Looks like the plug for the hood pin switch you would install if you had the OEM alarm. It is a provision and not used.
