These articles kill me.
Nothing in that article is anything new: - We knew the G20 was coming in as a 2019 model (so in 2018) - We knew it would use 35up/CLAR - BMW is trending towards "softer but sportier" - The 340 obviously isn't going anywhere What really makes me question the article is the fact the 330 is set to replace the 328 starting next year, thus it's almost like this is just a summary of established leaks/assumptions with some incorrect data, rather than hardcore facts from an internal source. |

All I know is that they'd better improve the plastics in the interior trim and finally dump those halogen bulbs. Although it is crazy to order a 328i now without the xenons, dealerships just continue to order and keep these sad strippers on the lots. Hurts the brand, just not the sales I guess.

Automobile Magazine on the 2018 3 Series (G20) and Next M3/M4
The latest Automobile magazine has an article on the next generation 3 series. The article mentions that the next M3/M4 will have electronic turbochargers, water injection and an output of around 500 hp. No other specifics about the M's. The water injection was already out, but the turbo change is interesting.

It's also supposed to have a longer wheelbase, be lower and wider. These better be marginal increases as the current car is large enough.

I want the M4 to be noticeably lighter. That will have many benefits as far as handling, acceleration, response. Don't really need the car to get bigger. Already the size of an older 5 series.

yea the new 3 series comes out in 2018 and if the f30 came out in 2012 and the m3/4 came out in 14 as a 15, then yea, the G80? would be revealed in 2020 as a 2021 lol

I'd like it if it's a hybrid, and use the electric engine to make up for the drops in torque, like LaFerrari, or i8 for that matter. I'm pretty sure this is being tested in BMW headquarters.

Looks like once again the new M will have lost its soul and the F8x M will have to be the torchbearer for true M cars.
Seriously the new tech is getting pretty amazing. Hope the zombie apocalypse is many years off. |

Put in 305 or 325 wide tires, especially with a tire that is sticker than PSS and modulate the throttle a bit it will be ok. I think you were spinning the tires going down the front straight from rolling on the throttle while in gear in 3rd and 4th then there is too much power, but chirping the tires on the upshift to 3rd is not a signal for too much power in my mind. |

This sort of story makes me long for the days when the pure BMW was just a simple twin turbo I6.
BMW lost their way with electric turbos and water. It has no soul! The C63 will be better! The F8X was the last true M car! ....and any number of other arguments that have gone 'round over here in the last 2 years. Let the cycle begin anew.
