Void warranty?

Hey all,

This being my first bmw I'm not really familiar with the voiding of warranty, I wanna add a few aftermarket performance parts to my 435i like intercooler, coilovers, exhaust, jb4 ect... will any of those void my warranty or keep me from getting my oil changes brakes ect...

Thank you

If you have an issue that can be directly attributed to those mods, you're on the hook, but this is up to your relationship with the dealer. There are ways around this but I'm not going to post this on the forum. If you're running a JB4, Downpipe, and Intercooler, you're going to be pushing the car harder than stock (obviously) and you should not be all too surprised if things go wrong.

For regular maintenance, they should not reject you, but final discretion is up to them.

In the UK, according to the terms and conditions, the maintenance pack is technically void if you modify the car, might be worth checking.

U.S. law is a bit more consumer-friendly in this regard. They pretty much have to prove that the mod caused the problem in order to deny warranty coverage. (Which is not to say that it wouldn't cost a ton in legal fees to force them to do so ...)

@Sabjimenez , I mod all my BMW and took them to service as is.
Even warranty work as long it is unrelated to the engine.
I try not to get my SA in trouble with the corporate since they are cool with me.

I wasn't referring to warranty as such, it's the same here as it is there, but we can purchase a maintenance pack which is essentially 5 years of servicing for a fixed price. According to the Ts and Cs though, it's invalidated if there are modifications.

So they won't change your oil if you put a different exhaust on? LOL

Nice.

+1.

Powertrains these days are incredibly complex and very expensive to fix. I prefer to stick to something that is simpler, mechanical, and static for modifications such as suspension.

Technically, they could indeed do that.
