About to order 328i opinions

Hey guys,

I am about to order a 328i, what are your opinions on the following options?

1) Harmon Kardon Speakers
2) Adaptive Cruise Control
3) Adaptive headlights
4) Connected Drive Freedom
5) Sun protection glazing

Which ones would be must have for you? I have ticked most options but these I am unsure about...

1) I am reading mixed messages about the HK system so unsure it is worth it but stock 6 speaker vs amplified 16 speaker system must be a huge difference right?

2) I would probably use this more than 3) but have ticked the High beam assist option as I do a bit of highway driving.

3) I am confused if adaptive headlights includes high beam assist (in the brochure it says it can only be optioned if you select high beam assist)

4) Was going to get this originally but decided against it since the only useful feature seems like the RTTI but I don't really like the idea of 3 year subscription service.

5) Is this just the same as getting tinted windows done?
Also did most of you guys get things thrown in for free? I was thinking maybe key case, umbrella and universal mobile snap in adapter.

Hey there and welcome, hopefully you join the club soon!
It really depends on what kind of driving you do for a lot of these options.
All I can tell you from experience is:
1) what about the Hi Fi option? In between stock and HK and if (like me) you're usually streaming MP3s from your phone you won't notice.
2) I have this, have only really "noticed" it a couple of times but nice to have
5) waste of money from BMW. If you really want protection you can get this done aftermarket for less and usually same if not even better quality.

I will probably be listening to a mix of DAB+ and mp3s on the HDD.

If you like music get the HK system.
Don't have adaptive cruise so cant help with that.
I wouldn't be without the Xenons with adaptive, one of the best options you can have IMO.
All the connected drive stuff seems to read well but for the most I find it useless.
Tint your own windows.

Good luck

Thanks H. In what way are the adaptive headlights must have? Is it because you do a lot of highway driving?

Just trust Uncle H and tick the box

They are not just good for highway driving they are good for all driving. Keep in mind they really only work when there is little or no ambient lighting so if you drive only in well lit areas you won't get the best out of them.

agree with the other boys - don't get the tinting - much cheaper at a local tinting shop and thats who does most of the dealer cars anyway. Particuarly recommend Tint a Car North Melbourne - they do heaps of prestige cars.

Connected Drive is great in marketing speak but not that useful in reality - plus i think you could code it in anyway given your car will have a SIM.

RTTI is the only useful feature. There rest of it really doesn't make any difference - I can't even get most of it to work properly.
