Enabled butterfly valve back on, anyone else did the same?
Hello guys, I have driven with with it disabled for about 12K and the exhaust sound was definitely amplified ranging from 1600 RPM to 2600 RPM (330i here). However, after reading that disabling the valve may have some backpressure power loss or fuel economy loss I decided to revert the process and switch the mechanism back on. So far, I have driven another 100 miles with it and did not feel like the car is faster with it back on although the sound has definitely been reduced again. Anyone wanna share their experience with the power and fuel economy issues?

Pull out the black tube from the mechanism and plug a golf tee inside as tight as you can and ziptie it

I just pulled the plug behind the left taillight (same effect), and it sounded great. However, I put the plug back in due to the same reasons. I dunno if I want to keep it, but the car feels the same to me.
Sounded great though...

I'm contemplating about retrofitting the valve to my miltek exhaust. That way I would have the option of going stealth (golf tee mod) or full frontal with it bypassed depending on my mood.
Anyone care to share some insights or comments on how difficult/tedious it might be to retrofit the valve.. and also of any potential side effects of doing so. |

Long did mention that a person with an aftermarket exhaust lost power when the vaccum tube was not plugged in. However, it is unneccessary to retrofit the mechanism if you are not moving the valve into your aftermarket exhaust also.
