N20 or N26 motor?
How do I tell what motor I have... sorry I've tried searching for a how-to tell thread for a while but can't find one! Tried on google and it tells you to look at emissions plate. I don't think we have that plate in aus.. or am i wrong and mine just got ripped off lol.

AFAIK the N26 is fairly similar to the N20 except that it has metal instead of rubber fuel hoses etc to reduce fuel vapour escape for emissions purposes (e.g. similar to the vapour recovery at newer fuel stations in AU). There is also the ability to pressurise and test the fuel system for vapour loss.
From what I have read it is required in California but not all US markets. I think most other markets don't have this legislative requirement (yet!). So you probably have a n20 - can you look up your VIN on the BMW tool? |
