Considering a new 2016 3 series 335/340i m-sport.

What I would like to do, is take the 6 piston brakes I'm currently enjoying on my 2012 135i MSport and replace them with standard OEM 128i/135i brakes which ever I can find cheaper. Any foreseeable issues with that?

Then take the 6 piston brakes from the 135i msport (front only), put them on the front of the new 3 series and move the OEM 3 series front brakes to the rear. Any foreseeable issues?


Essentially leaving me with 6 piston front and 4 piston rears.

Would this setup bring noticeable braking performance?

Just simply get the basic F80 or F82, probably just few thousands $ differences with 340i

I did this on another car and it caused the abs to cut in earlier. Did it cause any problems on M135i? Was there a measured improvement on M135i?

I'm assuming you keeping the disc size the same? It may improve the initial bite, but will significantly improve stopping distance for all that work?

The 6 piston fronts are designed for 338x26 mm rotors The standard front rotors on a 335i are 340x30 mm. So although the 6 piston calipers might look cool and have good feel They will only fit the front if you use half worn pads or use the thinner 135i rotors. A downgrade in either case for a 335i.
Moving the 4 piston 335i fronts to the rear will set up a situation where the stock pistons could fall out when the pads wear because the rear rotors are either 20 or 24 mm thick and the proposed substitute rears were designed for a 30 mm rotor.
The 6 piston calipers also use composite pistons which crumble after very high heat stress where the 4 piston Brembos use metal pistons.
Also the brake balance designed in to a brake system is likely seriously altered with this proposed setup.
So in a nutshell No advantage and likely unsafe at the rear at least.
