If you have halogen headlights, the drop in replacements are pretty decent. if you have factory xenon headlights, dont even bother without doing a full ring replacement. vendors will chime in to say they have a great solution but during the day you cant see them at all. They are not even either with the inner ring being the brightest because of the tube design of the angel eyes. Vendors have done their best but without a ring replacement you will never achieve the look of the e92/3 LCI or F3x

You basically have 2 options out there for you, a plug and play replacement light, and a full ring replacement. the full ring replacements will give you a clean and even light, but they will be the most costly. the plug and play replacements options have gotten much better the last few years and can even rival the brightness of the more costly replacement. Let me know what type of headlight you have first as that will make a difference

full ring (squared off like f30) are 70-250ish. I found ebay ones that don't come with a diffuser, so it's just a board and LED. There are places like 888concept which will sell you the rings in a diffuser already, so you don't need to worry about that.

Here's 1 quick picture of the way these lights look compared to stock. Let me know if you have any questions and we have all the information in the link in our signature

Custom LED like the one in the link above ( ours ) are more expensive but they get you amazing results. You can find the rings for $200 - $450 but then you will need to open the headlights yourself and install them which is a big hassle. Another option would be that you send your headlights and get them customized ( see pics on that link). Your cost will depend on the options you pick. If you are only doing LED DTM rings ( squared) it should run you about $550 The only way to get similar results as the new BMW ( both rings with same brightness) is by doing custom LED. Anything else will get uneven brightness between the 2 rings.

I'm sorry for the noobish questions but as you can see, i'm a new member lol. Does the rings mean to replace the ones currently in my headlight housing?

So yes, plug and play are relatively cheaper, but if you want to get them super bright, then ring replacements are the way to go.

The majority of the fault is not actually the brightness of the plug and play options but the BMW Headlight design of the rings. You'll need to go custom if you are looking for more. Last edited by Jeff@TopGearSolutions; 04-10-2015 at 10:32 AM.. |

Plug and play will get you brighter angel eyes but they will not be able to fix the design flaw on your car. The only fix to that is custom LED. That being said custom LED will cost a lot more money and the headlights have to be shipped out to be worked on. It comes down to budget and if you are willing to wait around a week to get your headlights upgraded.
