1200 Mile Service

someone told me the Amber/red RPM gauge lights are removed during the 1200 mile service. Is this true?

A side note, the transmission lunged the car forward after driving off from the dealer. The car sounds more raw afterwards. What was everyone's impression after the service?

Not true. The lights show you when to up shift. They lit up, from yellow to red. It's a permanent feature.

No. Gauges remain unchanged.

Car behaved the same after 1200 mile break in service as it did from day one. It is highly likely that your driving demeanor has changed.

On DCT cars the launch control gets unlocked, can't launch while on break in

Thats weird because I engaged the launch control quite a few times before the unlock.

Weird in deed, this was also confirmed by dealer. Supposedly no launch :

The dealers are often the same people that perpetuate this whole myth about unlocking horsepower after break in service.

My dealer said to be diligent in keeping the RPMs below 5500 for first 1200 miles, so no myth perpetuation there. However, they are guilty of perpetuating the myth among dealers that the Michelin PSS tires on the car are run flats!

For me it was the ppl at the welt who stressed how important it was to follow break in procedures.
