The replacement tip I bought came today, it's pretty snug sliding on. I tightened the locknut almost all the way flush like the other three. In my opinion there is no possible way that the the tip "fell off" on my way home.
I know all 4 tips were tightened to the same extent, I have checked them the past 2 weekends. With 30 days of ownership I have literally had eyes on my vehicle almost 100% of the time. I can see it from work and it's in a closed garage otherwise. I know every detail of my car, I clean it obsessively. I read every horror story on here and try to make sure I don't have the same experiences. For 6 hours last week the car was out of my sight, between the dealership and home I lost 5 psi in 4 tires and a tail pipe tip. Most unlucky 10 minute drive ever. I am at fault for simply not walking around my car and making sure it was as perfect as when I dropped it off. I felt self conscious about doing so for no logical reason. Crevier can suck it. I bought some JB weld high heat epoxy and an infrared thermometer gun; contemplating using it as small tack welds for the tips as an extra safety measure. Should work as long as the exhaust is below 450 degrees. |

Tires were at 32.5 - 33 when I dropped it off. Here is a better image of the tire pressures post service. Fun alarm to get when driving 70mph
This is f'ing deflategate; not the bullshit patriots charges. |
